Vote Bill Wolpert – November 5 Email

Subject: A Quiz for Petaluma Voters

My name is Julie Cleland.  I’ve been involved with the Bill Wolpert campaign almost from the day he filed.

With Bill fully engaged in shaking hands and kissing babies this weekend, he asked me to write a couple of his emails.  It was a task I was happy to undertake.

With the election only three days away, I thought a reminder on key elements of the City Council race would fit the need for today.  It’s important that you be able to answer all thirteen of these questions before marking your ballot on Tuesday.

1. Who is only City Council candidate with almost a decade of combined experience on the Planning Commission and the Historic and Cultural Design Review Committee?

2. Which candidate established traffic congestion relief credibility by bicycling to campaign events throughout Petaluma, often arriving with coattails flying, looking like a bicycling superhero?  (Hint: Even before running for City Council, the candidate rode a bicycle to work daily.)

3. Who is the tallest candidate?

4. Who is the only candidate to be endorsed by the Sonoma County Democratic Party and the Latino PAC?

5. Who is the only candidate to have been a member of the committee that wrote the Sonoma County 2020 Climate Action Plan?

6. Which candidate is married to the former Casa Grande High School culinary arts teacher?

7. Who is the only candidate to have gone on a Climate Ride, a five-day bicycle ride along the California coast to raise funds and to build support for climate change action?

8. Which candidate took time away from campaigning to attend the Dias de Los Muertos festivities?

9. With the obvious exception of Bill Wolpert, which other candidates voted to reappoint Wolpert to the Planning Commission in 2014, judging him the most qualified applicant for the body charged with plotting the future of land use in Petaluma?

10. Who is the only candidate endorsed by the Sierra Club and the Sonoma County Conservation Action PAC?

11. Which candidate is known to an excited three-year-old as “Bull Whippet”?

12. Who is the only candidate to serve on the Advisory Council to the Cordell Banks National Marine Sanctuary, working to preserve the rich ocean life off our shores from the impacts of climate change?

13. Which candidate will grow back a goatee after the election?

If you need help with the tougher questions, take a look at Messages from Bill on his campaign website.  You’ll find some hints there.

I’ll provide answers tomorrow.

Bill has been sharing what he thinks about the present and future of Petaluma.  But he also wants to know what you think.  You can reply to this email, send him a message from the campaign website, or talk to him at the Safeway in the Washington Square shopping this afternoon.  From working closely with Bill for nearly three months, I can attest that he cares about your opinions.
